Hi there! I am really glad you’re here. My name is M.W. Sturdivant, and I am an up-and-coming Independent Author.

By day, I am a marketer, wife and mom. By night, and depending on the morning, I write.

I have an epic in the making, and I could use your help. I’m going to post my chapters here in my blog. And for now, you can send me your feedback.

I also enjoy a children’s story or two and the occasional poem. I will keep these in my Worlds & Works page for you to access and read at your leisure. Lucky the Yucky Little Ducky, one of my first children's stories, is available now.

This journey began four years ago. When my oldest was two and gobbling up more books in a night than we had on our shelf. What started as a retelling of the Itsy Bitsy Spider quickly became a pastime of drafting little children’s stories to read with him at bedtime.

By the time my youngest was born and nursing, I was glued to adult fantasy novels and began drafting The Crown of Bone Epic, somewhere around 2 or 3 a.m.

This passion has only grown since, and now, I would love to share it with you.

Crown of Bone Epic

What if the orphaned heir of Embera, marked by kaos and burdened by prophecy, was fated to unite the weavers, save the Living Realms, and decide the fate of Gods, Immortals, and Man—while wrestling with love, loss, legacy, and the darkness within?

This is the beginning of an approximately twelve-book epic fantasy.

While the realms of The Crown of Bone are entirely original, the foundations are inspired by mythology, folklore, and legends from across the globe.

You may especially notice strong influences from Japanese language and cultural traditions, all of which helped inform the series’ gods, naming conventions, social customs, and spiritual beliefs.

Flames of Destiny

Flames of Destiny (FOD) will be the debut novel from The Crown of Bone Epic.

A fantasy romance set in a vast mythological realm where gods, immortals, elemental powers, monsters, and ancient prophecies all descend from a shared divine origin, The Genesis Arc. Which is explored in The Book of Beginnings, being written in tandem with FOD.

The story takes place during a period known as the War of the Realms, a time when the fate of entire nations is beginning to shift and fall on the prophesied, chosen one.

At its heart, we follow two powerful but deeply wounded immortal fae.

The first is Akuma, the exiled heir to a fire-weaving kingdom. Raised through brutal trials and burdened by a divine dragon sealed inside his soul, he is returning home after years of isolation and monster hunting. He is expected to become a leader, a symbol, and eventually a ruler, but he wants none of it.

He is haunted by the beast within him, the responsibilities forced upon him, and his unresolved feelings for the female he left behind.

The second is Amaya, a gifted sorceress who serves among her nation’s elite protectors. Despite her power, she lives with profound self-doubt, trauma, social prejudice, and the lingering memory of a painful separation from Akuma.

While preparing for his return, she struggles against the belief that she will never truly belong in the society she protects.

Around them, darker forces are stirring. Strange creatures are appearing where they should not exist. Old enemies may be returning. Divine beings begin sending visions and warnings. Ancient prophecies whisper of destiny, sacrifice, and a coming conflict that could reshape the realms themselves.

In tone, the saga sits somewhere between epic, mythological fantasy, and romantasy. It combines large-scale worldbuilding, elemental kaos, immortal politics, divine mythology, monster hunting, and an emotionally charged slow-burn relationship between two fae who have spent years carrying their wounds apart, to then heal together before they heal the realms.

The story is less about a traditional “chosen one” becoming a hero and more about damaged immortals learning whether they can survive their destinies, trust each other after only being able to trust themselves, and prevent the realms from descending into chaos.

Will you join me and my dragon-bound heir and a haunted sorceress as they confront ancient gods, rising darkness, and the scars of their past as destiny draws them toward a war that could remake the realms?

I hope so. Grab your favorite drink, and subscribe to my newsletter. Make sure you don’t miss each new chapter’s release. Right here in my blog.

Until then, welcome to the home of Crown of Bone.
